Funding from Community Foundation
Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 9599 in Jefferson is in the midst of completing its lengthy interior renovation thanks to the recent grant from the Greene County Community Foundation.
A few VFW members and community members have worked diligently over the past few months painting, laying carpet and flooring, and performing general maintenance to update the appearance of the interior of the building.
The recent grant will enable them to finish up the renovation and purchase new tables and chairs. “We hope that the new tables and chairs will be a selling point when we rent the building for birthday parties, graduations, and receptions,” said Don Ihnken, post commander.
The VFW and VFW auxiliary meet every second Thursday of the month at 7 pm. The American Legion meeting every second Monday at 7 pm. The building is located on the east side of the square in Jefferson. Call 515-386-4933 for information.
